Katrina M. Xyloportas is an Associate Attorney at DeTommaso Law Group, LLC. She joined the firm in September 2018 after completing a one-year judicial clerkship for two judges – the Honorable John G. Hudak, J.S.C. and the Honorable James Hely, J.S.C. Working for two judges gave Katrina invaluable exposure to all facets of divorce and family law litigation and motion practice. She worked diligently to hone her knowledge and understanding of family law before, during, and after divorce.
As a law student, Katrina always knew that she wanted to make a difference as a family law attorney. She took all available classes geared toward family law, including courses in domestic violence and motion practice. Through her involvement in the James S. Hunter Moot Court Competition and Appellate Advocacy courses, Katrina quickly gained a reputation as a fierce and zealous advocate. This reputation afforded her the prestigious opportunity of arguing before United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito in Rutgers’ first-annual Leonard Garth Moot Court Competition of which she was named the winner. Katrina was also elected as President of the Student Bar Association. During her summer breaks, Katrina interned in the Hudson County family court and worked for Legal Outreach, a non-profit organization providing legal education and college preparation to urban youth across the five boroughs of New York City.
Katrina was admitted to practice law in New Jersey in June 2018. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Union County Bar Association and Young Lawyer’s Division, and the Barry Croland Family Law Inn of Court.
