James J. Moloughney is a highly experienced, reputable, respected, and successful family law attorney and mediator with over 35 years of experience handling all types of family law matters statewide. He has handled landmark decisions at both the Appellate and Supreme Court levels. Currently concentrating in Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren, and Middlesex Counties, Mr. Moloughney has achieved recognition for his work by Judges, clients, adversaries, and peers. He has successfully handled a wide variety of cases, with an emphasis on high-income matters.
Mr. Moloughney has represented professional athletes, entertainers, corporate officers, medical and legal professionals, as well as relatively minor or non-complex matters, with equal treatment to all. Mr. Moloughney has served as a Matrimonial Early Settlement panelist since 1985, having run the program in Somerset County from 1998 – 2005. He was appointed to the Supreme Court Bench-Bar Committee for standardization of Best Practices (2005-2007).
Mr. Moloughney is a Charter member and former Trustee of the Somerset County Bar Foundation, which donates funds for public programs, since 1999. He has been a Trustee and Officer of the Somerset County Bar Association and held the office of President in 2011-2012. He was a Master of the Central Jersey Inns of Court (1998-2000).
In 2012, Mr. Moloughney had the honor of appearing before the United States Supreme Court and making a motion for members of the Somerset County Bar Association to be admitted as members of that Court.
